Although some people say, “Better to be slapped with the truth than kissed with a lie” or “Hurt me with the truth, never comfort me with a lie”, I don’t believe this always holds true. Know your audience and gauge the circumstances.
“Before you speak, let your words pass through three gates: is it true, is it necessary, is it kind?” But what if being true isn’t being kind? Then go with is it necessary? “Hear all, see all, say nothing.” Or at least use a filter. Sometimes, it’s about giving what is needed – If you are choosing between being kind and being right – choose being kind. “You have the choice – choose to be kind, honest, sincere, strong, loving, and always true to yourself.”
Never lie, cheat or steal.
